What I liked about the Denvix Portable Air Compressor

Multi-purpose design is always a win

These days, it seems like we need a special tool or piece of technology for just about everything, so any time I see a multi-functional product, I get excited. One of the reasons I love the Denvix Portable Air Compressor so much is that it serves as more than just a portable air compressor. It also features a bright, multi-mode flashlight and functions as a power bank. All those different features make it a great item to have on hand for emergency situations, and I’m especially glad to have it as we hit the peak part of hurricane season in Florida.

The flashlight offers four different modes, including two brightness levels of the white light modes, a yellow light, and a red strobe. The brightest setting is plenty bright for working on your car at night or illuminating a small room, while the yellow light is soft enough to use in a tent before bed. The red strobe gives me some extra piece of mind if I need to pull over to fill my tire on the side of the road at night. The flashlight alone ticks a lot of boxes for multifunctionality, making it ideal for car camping, power outages at home, or working on my car.

As a new Florida resident, I’ve been hoarding power banks just in case we need them because of a bad hurricane. The Denvix also serves as a power bank, so now I have another option in my emergency toolkit. It features a USB-A and USB-C port, so I can charge two things simultaneously. Denvix says the 15000 mAh battery is enough to charge an iPhone 4 times or a MacBook Air once. I haven’t had time to test it that much, but I was able to charge my mirrorless camera and phone simultaneously, both of which had around 50% battery when I plugged them in. After topping off both devices in around an hour and a half, the Denvix battery was only down by 30%, which is quite impressive.

The large-capacity battery also means that it can pump up a lot of things before you need to charge the device. Denvix says it will pump seven vehicle tires, 22 motorcycles, 31 bicycles, and 154 balls. I topped up my bike tires before a ride, and the battery only went down 1%. When it does need charging, it comes with a PD&QC cigarette lighter adapter, so you can even charge it in the car. It hasn’t run out of battery during my testing so I haven’t had a chance to see how long it takes to recharge, but Denvix says it can recharge in an hour with a 45W charger or two hours with a 25W charger.

Of course, the primary functionality of the Denvix Portable Air Compressor is, as the name suggests, to inflate things with air. It has four preset modes and a custom mode to fill various products at different PSIs. If you manually change the PSI for any mode, it will save that setting as the custom mode for the next time you use it. It also automatically stops filling when it hits the designated PSI, which takes the guesswork out of the process. You can even change the unit of measurement from PSI to kPa, kg/cm2, or BAR.

Despite its compact size, it fills nearly as quickly as our large air compressor and is faster and easier than using my manual bike pump. The hose has a Schrader valve adapter, so you can fill far tires without needing anything extra. But it also comes with all the adapters you may need for other things, including a Presta adapter and three different options for filling balls, balloons, inflatable pool toys, and more.

What I didn’t like about the Denvix Portable Air Compressor

A hot attachment point and floppy hose

There’s not much I dislike about the tire device, but there are a few complaints worth pointing out. First, the attachment point gets quite hot even in a short amount of time. It took slightly less than 30 seconds to fill a single bike tire, but even in that short amount of time, the base of the hose where it connects to the air compressor was really warm. Car tires, naturally, take quite a bit longer, and it gets really hot then. I had to wait to put it away in those situations to keep from burning my fingers.

Additionally, the included hose is annoying to attach and remove. There’s nothing that turns at the base of the hose, so the entire 17-inch long tubing flops around when attaching or removing it. It’s a minor complaint, but some sort of swivel functionality there would have made this device even better.

It is worth noting that despite the compact size, the Denvix Portable Air Compressor is still an air compressor. As a result, it is quite loud. It is expected for such a device, so I wouldn’t consider it a negative, but users should be aware.

Should you buy the Denvix Portable Air Compressor?

Simply put, this is one of those products that everyone would benefit from keeping in their car or garage (or one in both places). It’s relatively affordable for all it offers, so it certainly doesn’t hurt to have it on hand, even if it’s more so for emergencies. Having access to a bright flashlight, large capacity power bank, and air compressor all in one compact device is quite impressive and perfect for all sorts of situations. It will save you time and effort if you fill up tires or balls regularly and save you potential headaches and stress in emergencies.
